Why I Write:
An energetic girl with an imagination that kept her awake at night.
There was never a time where my brain couldn’t come up with a story, an adventure to escape reality.
Except, I had never written them on paper or computer as I was not fully aware how the arrangement of words and punctuation were what made a powerful perspective, one that could make the audience smell, savor, hear, feel, and visualise what was being persuade through text.
It wasn’t until the seventh grade I gained the motivation to start writing down what my mind had to offer because of my best friend who had started to do the same.
We both read and wrote stories together, and it was then I realized that this was what my brain had been wanting to do with all of the ideas that would pop up: write them down.
If you were to ask my younger self what form of art I valued most, my answer would’ve been music (still is).
It might’ve been the vocals, melody, and instruments being used that always managed to intrigue me, but maturing–what the media would say–is realizing that the lyrics, the imagery, and the message being expressed was what really makes a song stand out, uniting everyone who relates to that experience being addressed.
Now, I know that most songs wouldn’t be successful without its corresponding factor: literature, a beautiful form of artistic expression, one that I have learned to love and cherish as much as I’ve had with music.
